Extensions, automation and data-format tooling for geophysical workflows — built by a former developer in Geosoft's Professional Services group, where Oasis montaj was made.
What this is
If a workflow in your team takes forty clicks and an hour of careful attention every time it runs, it can almost certainly be a single menu button that reads its own parameters from the data.
Seequent no longer takes on bespoke development, and the number of people who write production GXs outside the company is very small — customers who go looking usually conclude there is nobody to ask.
I spent 12 years writing custom GXs inside Geosoft's Professional Services group, several of which shipped in the product. I have done the same work independently since, for organisations including several tier-one mining companies.
Work
Menu-driven tools for workflows you repeat: gridding and levelling sequences, QC map generation, batch processing across depth levels or survey lines. Delivered as a signed DLL with a custom menu and help files.
Import and export for formats Oasis montaj does not handle natively — survey navigation, instrument output, client deliverable specifications — plus bridges to MATLAB, Python and downstream systems.
For teams writing their own GXs. Available as training or an ongoing support retainer.
How engagements work
Every project starts with a look at how the finished GX would work — the inputs, outputs and behaviour, worked out against your own data — so you can judge the work before any price is on the table. If it looks right, I'll follow up with a firm quote for the build. The specification is yours to keep either way.
| Stage | What you get | Typical |
|---|---|---|
| Specification | Implementation spec, validated reference case against your own data, and a firm price for the build. | 1–2 weeks |
| Build | Development and testing against the reference case. Fixed price. Source code delivered at acceptance. | 2–8 weeks |
| Support | Defect fixes and compatibility with each Oasis montaj release. Optional, renewable annually. | 20% / yr |
Most builds are quoted fixed-price, so the estimating risk sits with me. Quotes in your currency.
Nuts and bolts
Get in touch
That is usually enough for me to say whether it is worth building, what it would cost, and — often — whether you would be better off doing it yourselves. I would rather tell you that than take the job.
